    Hi All,

    Tonight I got back in there, found the positive+ground wire was for what I think is my right side ballast pump. Tomorrow I'll be reconnecting and hiding the wire up away from the manifolds, which I think may have caused the wire separation in the first place.

    Still nothing on the snap-in wire. It is black & yellow, my first thought was to get underneath the dash but there's multiple yellow wires underneath there, so I will try to trace it back to a switch - somewhere...

    ---- Where should my blower motor be located? I did as much research as I could, and think it should be on the starboard side under the mufflers, but I couldn't see anything back there - and I hear nothing when I hit my blower motor switch. ----

    Blower in my '05 is located on the port side. Remove the divider panels to get access. Invest in a wave shaper or build your own "suck gate". You can find plenty of specs on line. Easy DIY project and will make a huge difference in the surf wave. We all surf regular so we have a 750 in the port locker, 400 in the starboard locker, 400 in the floor locker and 300 fixed weight in the front and we have a great wave with our '05 LSV which is the same hull as your '04. We have a separate 400 sack we fill with a tsunami pump and set on the seat but most of the time we don't need it.

    Thanks VA LSV, that info is awesome for helping me figure out what kind of weight setup I should run!

    - So I had my first official launch today, a couple of things;
    - Belt needs replaced, was so tight a couple of times the engine wouldn't turn over when we went to restart to surf other spots. I already bought the new belt, just need to install it tomorrow.
    - I did find the blower motor, but it didn't work. Blade was gummy and seized up. Ordered another and will replace asap.
    - Quickly found out how overly complicated the ballast system is. Only a couple of the pumps worked, and since each has a one-way pump, there's 6 I guess? - so that should be fun. I'm looking at this Wakemakers system upgrade, seems like an all-in-one package to fix the issue and upgrade the pumps to the brass reversible pumps (like sandm eluded to earlier this week!).
    - Carb needs tuned - hate carbs. (insert EFI conversion wishes & eye roll here).
    - Had a bit higher idle than I'd like, v-drive light was on as a result. Might be the TPS, could just be an adjustment, oil is new so I rechecked level and that's fine, pressure seemed fine according to the gauge (right in the middle all day at 40 I believe). Could also just be another effect of needing a carb tuning. Will check v-drive oil tomorrow as well, didn't want to check while we were out on the water and forgot to check when we got off the water as I know you should check it while the engine's warm.

    Any advice and help to work through these troubleshooting & fixes would be greatly appreciated!

    It turned out that 5 out of my 6 ballast pumps were bad, so i couldn’t even pump out the water that went into the one bag that was filling. I went ahead and bought a full kit that comes with 3 reversible 780gph pumps, all new harnesses, new thru hull fittings, etc. Wakemakers builds this kit to order and apparently doesn’t stock enough of them in peak season - plus they had to get them shipped from Mars so I have been waiting on them for quite some time and getting really anxious to start this project.

    Onto my ballast Question:
    So, my LSV came with the Gravity Games ballast setup, which is only 1200lbs total ballast - 400lbs in each locker.
    Ideally I’d like to put some 50x24x24 1100lb bags in the rear locker, as much as I can fit in the center locker, and 300+ lbs of lead in the bow.
    I took the center bag out and measured the inside, which comes to 70”x20”x10”. If I bought that size bag, it would give me 570lbs + the 300ish lbs of lead in the bow - would come to around 900lbs total up front.

    Would I still be able to run the 1100lb bags in the rear with less than 1k in the front? Or should I shoot for 750-900lb rear bags?
    Apologies if I am regurgitating something that should be obvious, this is my first boat and trying to see what the max ballast I can/should run in this boat. I am not the type to do things as I go, nor do i do them half heartedly. If I’m upgrading the ballast pump, plumbing, and wiring system I want to go ahead & get the max size bags I can use so that I’m not constantly upgrading bag sizes.

    My previous boat was a 2008 Outback V (purchased new in 2008 and sold in 201 which is the same hull as your LSV I believe. I don’t think you are going to be able to fit anything larger than 750’s in the rear lockers.

    The stock 400 in the ski locker plus 300lbs of lead in the bow should be plenty up front. Then with 750’s in each locker and a wake shaper you should have a legit wave with a few people in the boat sitting on the surf side to give a little bit of weight bias. On light crew days take one of the 400’s you removed from the rear lockers and put on the surf side seat in the back.

    I upgraded my boat with the wakemakers kit plus I added timers for ease of operation which I recommend. I believe I posted a thread on here when I did it, let me look for it and I’ll post it up.

    I guess I never started a specific build thread but here is my “for sale” which lists some of the things I did to it.

    When I get a chance I’ll see if I can find some pictures on my phone from when I did the reversible pump upgrade to help with ideas on where to mount them.

    Found some pics:

    I mounted the ski locker pump to the back of the rear bench seat, no pics of that.

    I made brackets to mount the 2 rear pumps on each side of the engine:






    And mounted the timers to the aluminum crossbar at the top of the engine compartment:



    There are many ways to accomplish this upgrade but this is how I went about it. Hopefully this helps

    Z28 you are correct, I went back and re-measured the locker and it’s 50x24x20 so the 1100 lb bags are 4” too tall. But at those measurements I’ve seen 1000lb bags, is it ok to max out the usable space back there?
    I haven’t researched much on the timers, do you have to manually set every time you fill?

    Yea I’d say go ahead and fill it up! The timers cut the pumps off automatically at the number of minutes runtime you set. It takes a few times to get the set time adjusted properly but once you do, you can flip the switches on and it’ll stop filling once full, and the opposite when emptying. The added benefit is when draining you can’t forgot to turn the pumps off and burn up a impeller.

    The timers essentially make the ballast system more modern so you aren’t having to monitor the bags when filling/draining. Without them the filling part is easy because it’ll start peeing out of the vent when full, but draining you need to keep an eye (or ear) out to prevent possible impeller damage.

    Myself and the crew being able to chill and relax was worth the added cost to me.
