Packing thread size

Hey guys anyone know the size of the packing ? I have looked through the forum and have seen steps on how to replace the packing but nothing about size . Manual only state WHEN to service it , not the actual packing size of the "rope" . Thanks in advance gentlemen

I replaced mine last year and I think it was 1/4". 2003 Outback DD. Check the diameter of the shaft and choose accordingly. See link.
