At low elevation the 400 is a lot of engine.
Had my SA at 10700# last Friday and was no struggle surfing at 11mph.
1000ft elevation,

We haven't got to demo because they don't have any. Yeah when we went to see the Max he said we had 2 days to choose that slot. So it was obv already slotted for a 400. I've been on a Max so assume the makai can only be better. Aren't they the same motor just mapped diff? If so I can just get it remapped right, lol.

Just filled the June build slot
The 440 was a remapped 400, identical engine internals. In 2018, the 440 was a $7000+ option and was only 23 ft lbs of torque difference. Not worth the money.
The 450/460 may also be identical internals with a 91octane tune, but does come with a lower geared trans.
You cannot remap the Indmar ECM’s and cannot buy them either.

Ya the 450 is a 460 just with a smaller diameter exhaust. They are all obviously the same block but the 450 & 460 have different heads, different tune ect..... from those on the 400 & 440. The 1.76 trans in the 450 is a big difference as well and also allows a larger prop.

Is this going to have a 1.76 or 1.5 transmission?

Is there any performance differences in the 450/460 due to the smaller exhaust? And if so, why put a smaller exhaust in and generate two different engines?

Just to throw this out there. I demo'd a 2018 Max last fall that the dealer had been using for surf nights. It had an extra 2150# over the factory 3000# with the 400. It had the surf prop on it, and had no issue at all 500ft elevation surf speeds. I took it up to 23mph just to see what the wake would look like at that speed and weight. While it was only a demo, the 400 seemed perfectly fine to me and that's how he had it set up for the surf nights. Now the Makai has 1000# extra stock ballast and is 700# heavier dry than the Max. Correct prop with any of them is always important.
