Default Depth finder shows "---" at times while riding

Is this normal for the depth finder to not read anything at times? I couldn't figure out if it was a speed thing yesterday or what but at times mine wouldn't display the depth and would just have "---" like my transducer is not working. We were in plenty deep waters. Is the transducer shoot-thru hull or an actual thru hull as part of the paddle wheel assembly?

Yep, normal. Mine is spotty in over 100' of water, but sometimes will pop up accurate in deeper. I've seen it read 215' in one spot that I know to be something like that!

Just wanted to update on this. I had mine replaced under warranty and so far the new one is working fine. Time will tell if this one fails but that's what warranty is for lol. Also note that if you have your triducer replaced, make sure they align the thing while on the water and use GPS or something to verify. Otherwise your speedometer can be way off if the paddle wheel is not perfectly aligned. Mine was a good 15 mph off lol.

I don't think mine has ever seen over 40' deep except during our trip to Table Rock a few years ago. Most of the time we are 15-20'.

    Good to know Larry.

So far so good with the replacement triducer. It read at all times yesterday.
