Changing engine need to remove flywheel to rebuild and transfer to new motor.

Hi Larry, hope your still seeing this post when I add things. I have a set up question. There is a box attached to the back of the engine, it's labeled as an emissions control information. Looks like just a junction with a reset button. I don't know what it's real function is and if I need to integrate the new engine controls back through it somehow to make things run properly. I question it because of the two white with blue stripe wires that run to the cylinder on top of the transmission. What do those wires control? I can't trace them back because they change colors after they get to the plug at that box. I am guessing the wires somehow power the shifting? or indicate the shift position back to the engine?, or indicates to the transmission that the engine is running. Is there schematics for the wiring on these boats available? Any help is appreciated.
