Default How likely is it that there will be discoloration?

I have a 2003 Mobius LSV. The side decal (the big swoosh) has some rips. I am interested in replacing it, but I am concerned that there may be fading if I remove the decal compared to the rest of the hull. I have some oxidation in the back corners, but I can normally buff it off every year. How likely is this? Is there a way to verify this before yanking it off?

My next question will be if anyone has suggestions for new sides since I doubt I will like the blue.

I would absolutely be prepared for noticeable "ghosting" between the where the decals where and the rest of the hull. pro level polishing can greatly reduce it.

Depending on the color, usually a good wet sanding will help greatly. But I’ve seen some boats baking in FL sun I would never touch or attempt.

The newer raised letters along the side of the boat look nice.

put factory back on over it or pick a different design/logo that's a tad larger and good to go.

either that or wrap the whole boat. doing that will be like buying a brand new machine

I took the decals of my last boat bad idea even buffed it and wet sanded it didn’t really help much( helped a lot but could still see it)black gel coat. I would leave it, replace it, or wrap the boat you’ll always be able to see the old graphic outline if you remove it mine was on a 2005 Yamaha

Black gel has to be the worst. Followed by red.

I have a Navy boat and would not remove the orig letters.

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess i will look for wraps as opposed to fixing the stickers myself. The size of the 2003 graphic makes it hard to use the letters or the trabe graphic.

I decided to remove my old decals and fully polish my 1999 Outback after I got it. I think it will all depend on how the boat was stored and such, but the "ghosting" was very minimal on mine (like you have to know what used to be there and look for the lines). After the first good polish, the oxidation was gone and you can't tell it was even there, especially once its on the water.

Reflection pic to show! 20 year old boat shines like new!
