Default Modern Moomba Boat Cover Tip

Just wanted to share what I think is a low cost noticeable improvement to fasten the Moomba boat covers and getting rid of the metal ratcheting device at the stern of the boat. That ratchet is overkill and will pop your side plastic clip fasteners and has two other disadvantages; 1. It scratches the gel coat if you are not careful, 2. Its at the stern which is a pain to get to if you are putting the cover on at a slip. This is a modification for '14 Mojo models but suspect would apply to other models/years with the rear ratchet strap.

    1. Take out the rear ratchet and tie the straps together using your favorite semi-permanent knot. Don't tighten knot until the last step.
    2. Buy one of these rope ratchets/clip hangers or something similar: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    3. Attach carabiner type clips from rope hanger to each of the plastic clips (one male, one female) on the side of boat you want to use to zip it up. This model will easily fit into the spaces on both the male and female clips.
    4. Attach plastic clips as normal on other side of boat.
    5. Loosely tighten draw string (rope) from rope hanger.
    6. Adjust rear knot from step 1 so that when the rope hanger is tight there is about a foot of rope between each fastener.
    7. Tighten rear knot and pull on rope hanger to tighten cover.
    8. Give old rear ratchet to a buddy who needs one.
