Default Show me your sub box - Max

What have people done for a sub box in the Max? The open air design does not seem to be optimal. Specifically interested in boxes built to use the factory cut out or up sized to a 12.

I cut a hole where the stock sub goes for a 12” exile sub and mounted a box behind it inside the helm.

I used a generic sub box off amazon and coated it inside and out with spray polyurethane to help with moisture, and used a window seal to help prevent air leaks.

Ended up having to use a 12” speaker ring to get it to seal up. Word of advice, cut out the hole for the sub as low as possible so you don’t have interference issues on the top of the box inside the helm.

I put my wetsounds 12 in a box and put it under the helm. I didn’t want to cut my fiberglass. I have it firing forward. Sounds great and didn’t loose much storage

I’ll try to get some pics over the next couple of days of the one I built, but my advice is to build one where the opening is at the very upper left hand corner of the box (if you’re facing the sub from the drivers seat). If you have one with the opening in the middle, like Z8ke mentioned above, it will be really hard to get the box high enough. Putting the opening where I did made it fairly easy since there’s more room down and to the right for the rest of the box to mount.

For as awesomely massive as the storage is, I was surprised how limited the area for a sub box is, but overall it’ll work.

If there is an opening between the cabin and helm cavity like what appears in z28's 1st pic, you would be wise to NOT go with an IB woofer.

If that daylight is just due to a removed panel, then a true IB woofer can be good solution to consider.

I built a 12inch box for my Wetsounds XXX12 and going to fit it in the amp well.

I also fitted a JL short throw Sub under the helm and built a sealed box. Fitted perfectly.
