    Default ballast pump impellers helix

Hello all, just curious how often do you have to change your ballast pump impellers? Mine is a 17 but I have 240 hours on her and I run 1100s in the rear, and I've never changed them.

Also where are the ballast pumps located in the helix? I have a manual but not on me if it's in the manual I'll be good. Thank you!

In my Supra, it was 2-3 years. One started sticking. The other had a slower fill time. So I swapped them all at once.

If they are working well this season, I would not mess with them.

Location - do you have a faux wall against the transom in the back lockers?

If so, when you look in the engine compartment you will see the ballast hoses from the floor shutoff valves routed to that transom wall.

Look in the rear starboard compartment, back carpeted wall, there are 2 silver screws on top of the back wall, remove them, the wall will lift up out of the lower track, and the pumps are behind the wall.

    Thread Title "ballast pump impeller".

On reversible pumps, that is the only thing that you can replace.

If you want to get real technical, you can also replace the motors or have those rebuilt, but we are talking about an impeller thread in the title.

Those of you who have replaced the impellers...

Is it easier to unbolt and unhook the Jabsco to replace the impeller on a bench or is there enough access to do them in-boat?

Just did mine yesterday in the boat took the cover off that hides them. And it’s three screws really simple to replace
