    Default Raw water pump impeller

Hey everyone, this past weekend I was going to do a little bit of Maintenance on my 08 mobius lsv. I saved the raw water pump for last because i remember what a pain it is when I changed it two years ago.
Well it kicked my butt again and I gave up.
Does anyone have any tricks on getting this sucker out? I had used a pair of long 90 degree pliers the last time but I couldn't get it to budge this go around...

I just did mine and used the plier trick. I used 2 needle nose vice grips on the impeller and somehow got both hands in there and pulled at the same time. The trick is to get the pliers 180* apart from each other so you are pulling equally and not binding the impeller on the splines.

Needle nose pliers work the best. Spray with some Wd-40 to lubricate it up. Keep your pliers at 3 and 9 o’clock and it should work it’s way out. Some people say to bump the engine when the plate is off, but I have never had the guts to do that.

Spray it with WD40, unplug the coil, and bump it over. it should start walking out. I use 2 paint can openers, one at 3 and 9 to pry out. I keep telling myself I am going to order a puller, but still have not..lol

try 2 paint can openers. They'll hook behind the back and let you pull right out. Plus, they're just the right length for working in tight spaces.

I just did this on my buddies mastercraft. Penetrating oil on the inside of the spline of the impeller and on the impeller veins. Pull kill switch or place throttle in full throtle neutral position so engine wont fire . Bump engine over for 2 seconds. Let everything sit for a minute. Wiggle out impeller easy peasy using one small vise grip needle nose plier on inside of spline and between impeller veins. I was even surprised how easy it came out, after how much I was going to have to pull on it. It took me longer to find the one screw i dropped putting the cover plate on than to do the rest of the procedure. Way quicker than the 10 minute youtube video i posted a few years ago

I usually have to bump the starter a couple of times and once it's unseated it pulls right out.

I like this thing. Was cheaper when I bought it but has saved me a lot of pain.

I just did mine. We unscrewed the face plate, took some dishwashing soap and smeared it on, bumped the motor for a couple seconds, used 45 degree needle nose pliers to pull it out. It didn't "pop" out but it only took us about 2min to wriggle it free.
