    Default Upgraded Swim Platform

One of the many projects done this spring was to pull off the old (enormous) stock swim platform and put something on that didn't cut into our wave. We went with Indonesian hardwood (Yellow Balau). It was very satisfying going from stock to this as you see just how much less interference there is from the water coming past on the surf side.

Roughly $160 in materials, all credit to my talented brother in-law.

Looks fantastic! Is that just an oil rubbed finish?

Nothing fancy, just a plain mineral oil.

With all the upgrades we did this spring I can't say definitively but I'd guess that upgrading the prop allowed us to push more weight and ultimately that's where we gained at least 3 feet of usable length. Swim platform helped for sure but it's the icing on the cake imo.

What change did you notice in the wave from the platform, height, length or both?

I missed this post before, but that platform is beautiful!!!

Where did you source the Yellow Balau hardwood from?
