Another (blank) ballast thread. 2003 LSV.
I have searched and searched.
1- does everyone just over weight their boat?
I only have the stock ski locker ballast now.
My plan was to purchase the 50x24 inch big bag at around 800lbs
On surf side. https://www.wakemakers.com/launch-pad-800-single.html
And a tube of some sort for the walkway in the bow.
https://www.wakemakers.com/straight-...llast-bag.html
I have found shorter ones but they are wider and my walkway isn’t that wide.
I’m on a natty light budget
I have 4-8 people on the boat often. Wave shaper on none surf side.

If you are running a wave shaper, you will want to weight the back as even as possible with a slight list to the surf side. So you would need 2 bags for the rear and a pump. That new Supa Tsunami pump from flyhigh is really nice.

Do I need the big 800’s on this little boat or the 540’s do the job?

I was going to suggest 600s. Does your boat have a hydraulic trim plate? The heavier you go in the back, the more you will need up front or the faster you will have to go to not have a wave right on top of your platform. Surfing and getting a good wave really is a numbers and physics game with all the variables.

Ok, start with 600s in the rears and add the bow weight. Good luck!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 2003 LSV hull is same as 2005 LSV hull. From my own research and experience, I believe our hull needs a lot of weight to get a decent wave rolling. I wouldn't do less than full 750's in the back, full 400 in the center and full 250's under front seats. I would start there and then depending on how many people you have, you can fill some spare bags and place where needed.
Definitely have to turn correctly/carefully when you are picking up after a fall, or you will have water swamping over the bow. Also need a good prop to push all that extra weight but if you want a larger wave....2021 Mojo, 6.2L Raptor 400/1.76, Acme 3407 15.5x13, G6, Flow3, +6500 lbs ballast

So we are definitely over loading the boat?
Is there an issue putting a 50” long bag in the back that is only 46”?
Thanks a ton for the direct answers.
I don’t need Perfect... just usable.
