Old ski’s - what is it?
Hopefully we have some ski folks on here to help. These belonged to my grandparents and are now in my garage. According to my dad they were pretty active water ski family so in the day these would have been good ones. My dad has all his old ones still and even slalomed behind the sa last year on the same he used when he was a teenager. The one with metal fin has no name or identification on it. Any thoughts on what it is? Probably 50 years old is my guess.

Those are from the 60's. The Cypress Garden skis were the top of the line back then. The Dick Pope were the top of the line combo skies at the time which most people had. I had a CG El Diablo slalom competition ski which were similar except for the grooved bottom. I waxed the ski using carnauba floor paste a couple times a summer and one time refinished the ski and worked around the labels. It looks almost like new somewhere in the attic. The third ski I not sure what brand that is at it has been refinished at one time and the labels removed. Some slalom skis at the time were the "banana ski" with a large arc from front to back but I don't see that in the third ski. They could throw a roost but was lousy on the course. Clean up the Dick Popes and make a display honoring the skiing family and add a neoprene ski belt and it would be complete.

Thanks for the info! The Dick Pope skis are in amazing shape for their age. Good point on the other one about decals removed and refinished. Does the metal fin give me any idea of age?

Yea, that single is shaped like the old "Banana Peel" my uncle had. Boots kinda look like the old Taperflex ones but I thought they all had carpet underneath. Could have been deleted when the board was refinished though.

I used to use my Mom's. She and my Dad had the his n hers ones with dark woodgrain on the top and white woodgrain on the bottom. They had 70's shag looking carpet under the bindings. Very cool in the 70's.
Wow. They sure don't look like much now.
