    Default Sea dek or other?

im looking to pull the carpet out of my 2003 moomba outback ls and replacing it with SeaDek or something comparable. Before i dive into that anyone have any ideas of what im going to be running into when i do pull the carpet or flooring. Will the seadeck show any of the floor underneath? its black under the carpet so would that be be visible at all when the seadek is installed. Is there anything i should be aware of when i start this project?

The floor is basically built for carpet, not meant to be exposed. You're going to need to finish off all of the floor panels before applying seadeck. The fit and finish of the panels is intended to be covered by carpet, thus no great pains were taken to create a good looking floor with tight and smooth gaps.

If you look at a boat with seadeck preinstalled, each panel has its edges exposed... the seadeck doesn't go edge to edge like carpet does.

Thats one of my biggest dilemma is what the final product going to turn out looking like not see one done before. what do you mean by finishing off all of the floor panels. if i don't do custom sea dek and just get a like material in the sheets and roll it out my self do you think that will end up giving it a finished look like the carpets does?

I found this guy on Facebook that put knockoff seadek down in is OBV. I’m getting ready to do it do my 2004 LSV. I talked to him about it and he just pulled the floor out and laid on top of the sheets he bought and used the floor as a template. Turned out pretty well. I ordered this flooring from amazon, I should be getting it in the next few days. I’ll report back on the quality at first glance, probably won’t get around to installing till April. I did notice in the product pictures it had 3M backing, which I believe is what real SeaDek uses. I figured that would be the important part.

I think over on planet nautique there have been some guys doing this. Basically had to do a lot of sanding just to get some of the panels to be flat, then coated with anything from epoxy to pickup truck bed liner.

If your floor is anything like mine, some panels are bare aluminum, while the rest of the floor is fiberglass. The AL ones will probably have crisp, sharp edges while the fiberglass will be more rounded or uneven. The gaps will not be uniform from one panel to the next.

Awesome! yeah keep me updated on how yours turns out i will be most likely be doing mine around same time. That was the biggest question i had. I seen the knock off seadek and this company https://www.aquamarinedeck.com/ that seems to be exactly what seadek is. So there cant be anything to much more special about the actual SeaDek product compared to the knockoff.. can you point me in the right direction on how the floor assembly is? what will i need to do to take it out of my boat.

    Default Sea dek or other?

Well since yours is the inboard, I’m sure there’s some differences. For mine, being a V drive, you take the screws out from the perimeter of the floor and lift. Pretty straight forward for me. Mine is also a single piece of fiber glass. I would assume yours is similar but with a big hole in the middle!

I recently bought a sheet of 6mm grey top/black bottom in a brushed finish from Agenda. https://agendasurf.com/heavy-brushed...-traction.html

I wasn't planning on replacing the carpet with it, but after looking at it I could see a foam flooring project one day.

I will be using this as traction/step pads around the top of the boat on the sides, the bow, glove box, armest by the throttle, etc.

Just use hydroturf, cheaper and easier to install, just peel and stick
