    Default Skiers choice yearly production

How many boats does moomba/supra produce and sell every year? Doesn't have to be exact if they don't release those numbers, I'm just looking for a ballpark estimate. Is it 500? 1,000? 5,000? Thanks

I think I remember seeing that Malibu produced 3500-4000 in it's last fiscal year. At some point, recently, they acquired Cobalt so I'm not sure if those productions numbers include stern drives or not.

Malibu has (I'm assuming still does?) the largest market share.

It's not the answer you're looking for but gives you a ceiling.

Actually, just found what I had read. It would not include the Cobalt production since it was purchased after 6/30/17.

This is somewhat of an interesting read if you are curious about the industry

Info on Malibu is easier to find since they are a public company.

2014 production was 2,910 with average sales price of 66k
2017 production was 3,815 with average sales price of 74k

They are producing almost 1k more boats now than they were 3 years ago. Interesting.

Last one and I'm going back to work ........

"Within our primary category, performance sport boats, units grew to approximately 8,700 in 2016, 34% below the category’s
historical peak 2006 sales volume of 13,100, We believe there remains significant opportunity for growth from
increased consumer demand in the recreational powerboat industry as the economy improves, but there are
numerous variables that have potential to impact future growth."

2016 estimated market size 8,700 (out of 186,800 total powerboats units)
    2006 estimated market size 13,100

And based on Malibu's annual report .......

They said Skier's Choice had 12.2% of the total market share. That would mean approx 1,000 units.

They had MC and Nautique each at approx 22% of total market. Bu-33 CC-22 MC-21 SC-12 of an approx 8,700 units.

I just toured the factory and asked that same question. They produce 1400 to 1500 a year, 1000 Moomba's and 400 to 500 Supra's. They complete about 6 a day and it seems to take 8 to 10 days from start to finish. The operation is very impressive with a lot of focus on detail and quality control, it's very obvious they don't want any flaw to leave their factory. From what I could tell, there are no corners cut on the Moomba line compared to the Supra. Plus it was super cool to see my boat in production.
