Nice truck! My Dmax got 20mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 80 and no load. Love, love, love my new truck. Just made the first long haul with it last week and it was a beast. It got just over 9 mpg towing, but I had the cruise set at 80 then also….I am sure that didn’t help. Never again will I own a gaser.

I always thought the reason to own a diesel was gas mileage towing(aside from the obvious tow ratings). granted not apples to apples but my 5.3 silverado 4x4 averaged 10mpg's towing the tige from green bay to slc and I never let the speed drop below 70, 80 most of the trip. got 13.4 2 months ago from orange county to vegas towing a uhaul car hauler with our camaro on it and I averaged between 80 and 85 all the way here.

not gonna lie tho. if I was in the market for a new whip, the ecodiesel in the dodge 1500 would be on the radar.

F150 EB3.5 max tow gets 21.7mpg city driving, haven’t done any sustained highway with it yet, but towed the SA to Tennessee and back and averaged 9.7mpg going and 10.7 coming back, 75-80 on the highways.

I thought diesels were high teens towing.

I personally could care less amount fuel mileage. Power is way more important to me. I can’t really speak to the new ecoboost motors and the larger gas motors that GM and Ford have now. What I can tell you is I had a 1/2 ton Chevy with the 5.3 and then a 3/4 ton GMC with the 6.0. Both were total dogs. I was very disappointed in the 6.0, and I could not wait to get rid of that truck. No power, and got 6 mpg towing the boat. I assume the diesel will get better mileage after it breaks in a little. It only has 6,000 miles on it. I am sure others are getting better mileage that don’t have a lead foot either. I was following my buddy pulling a G23 with a 2019 F350 dually and he got 13 mpg.

Teens on my Ford 6.0 pulling the boat. But it stops great and still has lots of power pulling out of steep ramps.

Since I only put 2-4k per year on it, this truck will last longer than me.

Still have a soft spot for the old Super Duty look and that is a sexy Excursion all blacked out. RIP my old 2005 F350...

Actually thought about finding something like this as a family wagon, boat/trailer hauler, park it until you need it. Then get a CTS-V or something fun for the daily. But Momma said nope. Apparently we are already approaching used car lot status when the kids are home...
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Larry, have you done anything to your f150 to accommodate the squaring ? I have a 19 F150 5.0 with max tow package. I still get some squatting in the back. Was thinking about air bags or timbren bump stops. The 5.0 has no issue pulling the bait , just wanting to be as safe as I can with the f150.

The 21 F150 with max tow and my SA drops the back end about 1”. It’s about level with front end now.

I have towed 1500 miles so far this season and no feeling of not being in control with braking, swaying or steering.

    Larry,

How did your F150 like the Norris hills?
Our Yukon XL loaded with family of 4, 2 dogs, crap for the week, boat, lead, and toys was no issue but it was certainly working. We only have the 5.3L in that thing so had to keep it in 2nd or 3rd getting from the highway to the lake house.

A couple occasions I wish I had the 6.2L or took my diesel truck (won't fit everyone in the cab)
