    Default Time for another TV

Looking to get a smart tv with 55-60" screen size.

    whattya recommend?

Seems like all the reviews I'm reading about the new Samsungs say they are overpriced for what you get

    LG OLED hands down.

I replaced all my old plasma and LCD TVs in the house recently with 4K OLED TVs the difference is like going from standard definition to high definition 12 years ago.

I put these in the bedrooms https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-55-c...?skuId=5763400

And this one in the living room https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-65-class-64-5-diag--oled-2160p-smart-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-high-dynamic-range/5763359.p?skuId=5763359

Now I really want to replace my projector up in the movie room with a 4K HDR projector, because after watching 4K movies, Amazon, Netflix, etc. it is really hard to go back to watching 1080p HD.

I'm holding off for now. I want a 75" 4k but they haven't exactly worked out the HDR standard so why jump off the cliff? I have a 65" right now and no 4k programming anyway.

A lot of factors in picking a TV. Check out the link: http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...-4k-tv-1258884

Samsung all the way. They may cost a bit more, but they are also one of the only makers of screens. I've had 3 over almost 20 years including my current 67" LED DLP that I recently replaced the mirror chip and should get another few years of great service out of.

this is feeling a lot like a major de-ja-vu from Ed

    my .02 fwiw...

I bought a samsung 8000 series 65" back in january of this year and it was broken from the start. samsung has an outboard box/power supply that all the connections plug into and I think that was the issue. I took it back and bought a sony x930d model. iirc it was 1 step below their top of the line model best buy sold and ran me $1700. the picture quality is fantastic.
lg oled's were nice but at the time the comparable 65" was over 2500bux and there was not enough of a side by side difference to justify the added cost. you might see a difference in the store doing side by side but once you get them home, any of the new 4k tv's are going to be amazing to watch and you won't notice subtle differences if you don't have 2 next to each other as an A/B comparison.
watch out on the vizio line as some don't have onboard tuners. not a big deal for most but if you ever find yourself wanting on air reception, they won't do it.
when shopping look at the blacks in tv's. that's where you will get the biggest difference.

and yes dakota, when I ran the reverse logistics department for a retailer a year ago, you would be amazed at the amount of tv's that come back defective...

I don't really like the Sceptre or the RCA ones. On the other hand some of the cheap ones are decent like TCL. Vizio is kinda down the middle and has some great prices. If I was looking for a 55" I"d go for this one for $398:
