Can anyone comment on baffle removal and overall decibel level??

"Preliminary data suggests that removing the baffle improves engine performance."

I would imagine that removing the baffle would increase exhaust flow and likely increase decibel level....

I always was along the line of thought that not only was FAE better for rider health, it also quiets the boat down.

I was told the new ones don't use the drain plug as support. These are older pics. Ill ask about the tack welds tomorrow as well when I call them.

Must have just changed that—mine installed in August has a drain plug support.

People react strongly to it for some reason, while the reality is you really can’t see it. It’s under platform and kind of obscured by the pipe itself. And, underwater...

Overall boat is quieter. Exhausting under water quiets the boat, even with baffle removal.

My boat runs better without the baffle—Supra SE with 440 Raptor. Seems to surf 100+ rpm lower at same surf setup.

did you have to drill into the hull? First time boat owner and the thought of me doing that is a little sketchy

Some holes are re-used. You do have to do a little drilling, but it’s not intimidating. You seal it up as the new screw goes back in.

I straight piped my Moomba with an FAE, it is very reasonable in tone. I would even say quiet, love it.
