    Default Prop Wash

I need to upgrade my prop from the OEM 14x18 4-blade stainless to either an Acme 1433 or 1939, but then I ran across some posts about props washing out the surf wave on older hulls like mine. Anyone have experience and or advice with this?

Yes, Nettles. Give them a call and tell them what you have and what you want. Definitely get an ACME.

I bought a new prop from Nettles. They talked me out of the model I wanted, and suggested a better size to start with. Also told me if the recommendation did not work, I could trade it back for the other one. As long as the prop was not damaged. The suggestion they made was great.

Another person driving my boat hit a rock/stump with the new prop. Nettles also fixed the new prop so it looked like new again. Lesson learned about letting other people driving my boat, but not much you can do if you want to wakeboard or surf.

Nettles - Good people to work with.

    BTW - I went with a ACME 1433 on my 2007 Supra 22' SSV.
I was first going to buy the ACME 1617.

Not too much difference on the two models, but A LOT different from the stock OJ.

I cannot help on the prop wash for your model boat.

Don't be afraid to go with a larger prop.

I went from 750s in the rear to 1100s and my 1433 (14" dia") was no longer the right prop. Following recommendations here I went with a 2315 (15" dia). Measure the existing clearance w your hull. For me that was fine but I ordered a set of spacers from Boatmate for my trailer.

How much weight do you run when surfing?

    Call it 3100-3400lbs.

Surf-side locker has the 1100 pretty close to full-1,000lbs?
    Nonsurf-side at 80%, so 800lbs?
    650 IBS full
    400 Ski locker full
    Old 400 under the surf-side seat, 300lbs?
Ballast with a heartbeat (people and dogs)?

When I had 750s in the rear, the 1433 was fine unless I had a big crew.

Thanks. Good point. I’m 2800-300k with usually 4 people. I have not had a chance to run the prop with ballast and 8 people onboard.
