Default Need Input. Looking to purchase a newer Moomba

    Hi All,

I’m new to this forum. I have owned a 2000 Moomba Kamberra since day one. This was our 18th summer with this boat. It has been an amazing boat. 900 plus hours and virtually no problems.

Looking to buy something newer. 2014-2016 mondo or craz. Mainly for surfing. The extra 18 inches in length that the craz has is not terriblely important. Really wanting to know if their is a difference in performance when it comes to the surfing between these two boats. Besides the difference in length and beam are the hulls virtually the same? Price range 50-60k

Any input, advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA

There is a MASSIVE difference in the wakesurfing and wakeboarding wake between a Craz and a Kamberra. The Craz wake is HUGE compared to anything you could produced from that ancient ski hull of the Kamberra.

He wants to know about between a Craz and a Mondo, not his old boat. I have the Craz and love the wake, however never been in a mondo to compare. However, normally length is king when it comes to throwing a surf wake so I imagine the craz will surf better.

Go stand beside both boats at the dealer. The craz is a lot bigger boat. If you're primarily surfing, go with the craz for sure. It throws a mean surf wave with about 4500# of ballast and has tons of freeboard to spare.

Here's my craz dialed in on both sides. This should help tip the scale towards the larger boat.

Mondo is a very capable surf boat, don't kid yourself. I have 3425lbs of ballast and it could easily handle another 1500, freeboard is huge, I'm just not keen on filling every square inch of under seat space with ballast (or stacking bags in the lounge area). I've had 11 in my boat comfortably (a couple on the sun deck tanning) but if you plan on more than that it will get cramped. Keep in mind that with either the Craz or the Mondo your wave will depend on how much ballast you add to the boat as they come very under equipped in that department. I'd love the see my wave with 5K of ballast and 10 people in the boat but I'll just never make that sacrifice (well, I would, but my wife will never let it happen) Good luck in your search.
