Default Suck Gate / Ghetto Wedge / WakeShaper

I was hoping to solicit some feedback on DIY'ers that have made various suck gates, wedges, wakeshapers, etc and tested them to date. I have made probably 7 varieties of suck gates and two of the velcro wedge varieties and I have probably two favorites right now. I am curious on angle and paddle size especially and what has produced best wake.

I have posted some pics (hopefully) below that show the double paddle design I made and currently use. I got the idea after reading a post and seeing a picture of someone using two Nauticurl shapers in tandem. The paddles are 6x9", aluminum suction handle and PVC wood trim from Home Depot. I use the PVC trim exclusively now cause it is so light and cuts and shapes like wood. (In the pic I you'll see one of the paddles is HDPE cutting board cause it was salvaged from a previous build) The angle is 45 deg.

The other pics show a single aluminum suction cup design with a 110 degree paddle and slightly larger paddle. The paddle has holes drilled into it but I am not convinced they make a difference. The single suction cup has never fallen off BTW.

I like the ease of use of the single cup but I think, for my boat anyways (2007 XLV), the double paddle design at 45deg is the best to date.

Anyways thanks for the look and any input or experience you can offer.

I find the ghetto gate extension from a 15x20 sams cutting board works the best with a evenly weighted xlv straight extension. No angle

What is pvc trim? Tried searching that on the Home Depot site but nothing looks wide enough to make a suck gate.

On the double paddle design don't you need a different one for each side?

It would have to be pretty big to be able to flip it. Possible if half sticks out of the water and a lot more below. I am happy with mine but thinking of sticking a bigger blade on. On the eternal search for the perfect wave.

Neither of those look big enough to make that double that he made.
