    Default Surf platform wobble

    Hey everybody

I have a 2013 Moomba LSV. The platform wobbles quite a bit while sitting in the water. It seems loose and makes noise. It appears that there are some screw holes in brackets that attach the platform to the boat.

Can anyone tell me what is supposed to go here or maybe they have a picture of their own?

Mine did the same thing. I think it is from years of bouncing in the water. My brackets don't have the screw slots like yours, so I put plastic shims in the back of the brackets and it is rock solid now.

    That is a great idea!

Actually I think I will do both the set-screws and the plastic shims and see how that goes.

Those screw holes are for bolts to add tension to the platform to keep it from rattling.

They work but my experience was the bolts get bent, broken, in the end the bracket keeps getting worse.

The real solution is upgrade to the 14 year model stainless brackets.
They aren't the same bolt pattern on your hull but they are easily adaptable by the dealer.

I was the first to upgrade and several have followed suit.

The best upgrade ever to your swim deck. No more rattles it's locked in.

And it's actually easier to remove the deck now. Pull a pin lift off.

I wonder if those will fit my 15'. Mine doesn't have the hooks for the straps. I thought that was a great idea on the 16s & up.

Composite shims wedged in from the top then cut/break them off... tap in with a hammer.... also those holes should have set screws that tighten down.... I bought new stainless steel Allen head screws.... I believe they were 1/4 20thread screws .... make sure you get stainless and long enough to reach all the way through bracket and into base. Using both the shims and the set screws made a world of difference on mine!!! Solid as a rock now!

Another idea is to drop a stainless lock washer through the space in the top side of each bracket. They will rattle into place but you can get them out with a needle nose plyers when you want to remove the platform.
