Four years per belt. Average 50 hours per season on the engine. Keep the old one onboard as a spare. Never had the squeal or screech sound.

Mine will squeal if it gets wet
Once I run it a while it stops

If it continues to squeal you need to replace it

Squealing means it's slipping and wearing out

Might look to see why it's getting wet

    Impeller leaking? Excessive bilge water?

But technically look at the belt look for cracks missing V tracks. That when it's time to replace it.

Trick I learned to shut it up which is testing to see if your belt or a bearing is squealing spray a little WD40 on it. It it's quite it's your belt
