Default Recommendations for tower speakers and wiring

I have a 2011 Outback V that came with a MB Quart head unit, a Kicker DX 200.4 amp and the 6 Kicker cabin speakers. Everything runs and sounds good and I have no issues with this setup. When I purchased the boat there wasn't any tower speakers. I would like to add two now and maybe down the road a total of 4 speakers to the tower. I would like to leave the setup that I currently have alone and just add a new amp and two tower speakers.

    1) can I leave my existing setup alone?
    2) should I get another Kicker 200.4 amp to run the new tower speakers?
    3) what would be a quality low price speaker and quality high price speaker so a wakeboarder could here it?
    4) any additional help with wiring your recommendations would be great as well.

    Thanks

    Marc

    1) yes
    2) no. If the end game is 2 pair, go with a 2 chnl amp like the Kicker KXMA400.2. Adding the 2nd pair be nearly plug-n-play
    3) Kicker KM84LCW in a pair of KMtes8 pods. Great quality, sound and price

I might recommend KM84LCW speakers in KMTES8 enclosures connected to the KXMA12002. That will put roughly up to 300 watts into each coax; slightly more than their RMS rating but probably not crazy excessive. That amp will allow you to run two pair as well.

I agree, the KXMA1200.2 is the way to go for 2 pair of KM8 if you are not bumping up against a budget.

I haven't set a budget but if I were to look at a less expensive option what would your recommendation be?

    Phil, look a way

Prior to the release of the Kicker 1200.2, we have done quite a few 2 pair of KM8 with either dual KXM400.4 or even better, a single Wet Sounds Syn-2 or Syn-DX2. Perfect power and easy to wire and tune being a 2 chnl amp. Now, there is only a $110 difference retail, between the Syn-DX2 and the KXMA1200.2. By time you add in the speakers, pods and extras, you are likely looking at only a 10% increase in cost. So you really have to consider the KXMA1200.2 as a worthwhile investment for two pair of 8" speakers.

I agree - the KXMA1200.2 and the 2 pair of KM8's is the way to go. I still want to start out with 1 pair of KM8's and at a later date add the 2nd pair. Also, I would like to wire this up myself to get more familiar on how all this audio operates in my boat. I'm pretty comfortable with DIY projects but would like any suggestions or info (brand of wire, wiring diagrams, etc) on the easiest way to setup the new amp and speakers. Thanks everyone!
