    Default new cabin speakers install

Sorry if this is a repeat post or question, I searched around and could not find and info. Seems everyone focuses on amps, subs and towers (which I am replacing everything), but I am going a step further and changing out the factory kicker cabin speakers to the Exile sx65m. Has anyone changed them out? Am I going to have to drill new screw holes and or expand the openings? Mounting depth should not be an issue. Maybe I should have just kept the existing set up and just swapped the amp, sub and towers? I am installing all Exile audio...... XM9 towers, xi12d sub, javelin and 30.2 amps and 3 pair sx65m cabin speakers. I could have gotten away with just running the javelin with the towers and new sub, but figured I had gone that far, why not just go ahead and finish it out. It's more work and money, but the exile cabins have a higher wattage over the kickers (which sound pretty good running off the kicker 4 channel amp) Any advice is appreciated on what to look out for on the cabin speakers and any of the rest of the build for that matter. I am already running 2 amps, towers and sub, so most of that should be pretty straight forward. Thanks!

The SX65M's will go right into the existing cabin speaker holes without any modification. The holes from the stock Kickers don't quite match up but it doesn't matter because the screws that come with the Exiles just self drill right through the plastic anyways. Easy-peasy!

I've put SX65Ms (and Exile amps) in 3 Moomba's now (our Outback, our Outback V, and a buddies LSV) and they are absolutely a standard size direct fit.

I think the Javelin is the only current Exile amp I haven't used, but if it's like the XM30.2, XM15.4, or XM2000.1 you'll be very happy!

Tip on the XM9s - there is a switch behind the back cover - flip it and see which sounds better - in our boats it made a ton of difference in the sound, although I don't remember which direction was preferred, lol

The only issue you might run into is 1 screw at the top might not go back in on the cabins. There is pretty limited space, I have had no issues with 3 screws. I just check tightness once every few months.

The Exiles were designed to be a direct replacement with no modifications.

Got the cabin, sub and amps done last night, didn't run into any real issues other than the factory speaker wire not being long enough in a couple places. I am debating on how to mount the xm9's. The current tower speakers are the Roswell 4 speaker combo spinners mounted to a flat plate on my 2015 Mojo with the OZ HD tower. Do I drill new mounting holes there or drill the tower and use the big clamps?

On the back of mine, it says 1ohm and no. If you have time, would you care to check yours? I emailed Brian, and he told me which was which, but am interested in others experience. The tower is way forward and the mojo with the oz hd, so I am thinking the 1ohm to delay the horn a bit

That's a difficult call without pictures of the bar your referring to.

Also I would need to look at my XM9s to see how they would munt to a flat bar.

The Roswells should resale easily with everything included, a lot of people love that particular combo.

I run mine on 1ohm as well, this basically makes them less harsh in the cabin area. From a riders standpoint you really can't tell the difference.

I have only found 1 picture online that shows the plate I am referring to, and its really hard to see it, I just know what I am looking at. I will post up a pic when I have my phone later. The exile clamp assembly comes apart to be able to mount to a cast tower, I am thinking that is my best option. I have all my stuff for sale in the classifieds that I removed, so far only the cabin speakers have sold.

Here is how the current towel Roswell speakers are attached to a flat plate and though bolted, the wire for the plug comes out right at the base of that plate on the bar.
