Default Raptor 400 canister type oil filter

Preparing to do my first oil change on my new Craz and the Raptor 400 has a canister type oil filter. My boat is at the lake so I go look,, but is there a special tool needed for removing the canister? Anyone done this before that can give me any tips. I have a pump so I am going to pump it thru the hose but not sure about the filter.

I use a standard oil filter wrench. It's a tight squeeze back there. Make sure you warm up the engine until the oil filter feels warm to the touch, the temp gauge on the dash is not a great indication that the oil is warm. I made that mistake last time.

I thought just one end would come off and hen slide the cartridge out. Sounds like different from what I thought. I guess I will find out tomorrow. Thanks

It does, you will need some sort of wrench to loosen it. I used and adjustable wrench last oil change.

Did it this afternoon. I need a new pump before I do it again. Took forever to pump out 8 quarts of oil. Cartridge just a little hard to get the wrench on the filter

Did you pump it out through the dip stick? Sorry, new to inboard and Moomba. On my old boat I sucked the oil out that way.

That's how I do it but many like to attach a pump to the drain hose.
