Default Removing factory fittings from Ballast Bags

Anyone have any luck doing this? I've looked at Wakemakers video. Whats the trick and do you glue the new fittings in?

I just let the bag sit in the FL sun for about an hour and then step on it and rip it right out like in the video. For the new ones I don't use anything but plumbers' tape as I want to be able to unscrew them. Never had one pop out.
