Pimp your PTM Racks
a few people have asked so i will post on here. Over the winter i had a few projects i wanted to do and always like to tinker since i grew up building cars and can never lease anything alone. Decided to pimp my PTM racks and do Matte Black / Red Anodize the standard silver kind of stood out. I will say PTM must have stock in red lock tight. All the screws were a pain to get out and pretty much had to use a propane camping torch to get them the hot to loosen the lock tight.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS AND SCREW UP YOUR PTM RACKS.
I had to pull the racks completely apart like i was saying and had to use a propane torch to heat every bolt up and wiggle it loose back and forth. Once they start to move they come loose pretty easy. I will say go and buy some brand new allen wrench just for this if you are going to try and tackle it. I am not was responsible for any damage you do you are on your own racks. A few of the screws did snap and i had to use a easy out on 2 screws which was a pain. As long as you take it slow and you are patience it's not that hard. Once everything was apart i just took them to a local anodizer they did what is bead blasted Type 2. Type 3 Anodizing is the best since it's harder and thicker, only drawback is colors are limited with type 3.
These screws were the hardest to get out in the whole process. There is a small Allen that holds the metal hook. If you pull the pins that hold the arms you can align the allen through one of the holes to get easy access.

Yea it was kinda scary at first with everything red loctited just take your time and have a cocktail. Stoked how it came out yea the standard silver didn't really go with my boat scheme black / red.
