Selecting an amp
I am helping a friend set up his boat.
he currently has two Icon 8 want to put 200 to 300 watts to them.
he has (4) 6.5 in the boat rated at 75 watts a piece.
We were thinking one four channel amp with the two icon8 on channel 1 and 2
and two 6.5 on each of the other two channels.
we are not opposed two amps but thing one would be good.
what amp do you think would work the best. (there is a dry area in the boat so we would be fine with car amp)
also he would like to stay under $5002007 supra 21v

For the money to wattage, id go with the HTX6. Up to 300W x 2 available for the icon-8's but dialed back a little and 75W rms available to each in-boat from the remaining 2 chnls @ 2 ohm. Ideally, 2 4 chnl amps will be better. Divide the load up.

I was looking at the HTX6 what does it mean when they say 4 ohm Mono (not stereo) will this be a problem with the icon8's

Dont worry about it. Configured properly, the pair of icon-8 will be running stereo, as well as the in-boats. 4 ohm indicates lowest safe impedance that can be bridged on 2 chnls of the amp. Still good with your setup.
