Default 2009 Mobius LS Prop Recommendation

Looking for input on this. My kids are getting older now and want to spend most of their time wakeboarding and some wake surfing. I have been reading threads, but don't see anything clear about which prop might be best for this on a LS. I look forward to your input.

there are a lot of different props depending what you want. More top end speed, more hole shot, etc.....call Wakemakers and talk to one of their prop specialists, they can help point you in the right direction and are great to work with. They will usually give you a 10% discount for being a Moomba forum member.

Dunno if you already got one but called acme and for my 03 mobius lsv w/ around 2k lbs of ballast and doing 50% surf 45% wakeboard and 5% ski/ tube and they recommended the 1615 prop. I should have it on and testing it out by next weekend!

I would probably be tempted to call Nettles or ACME as opposed to Wakemakers. They would have more expertise with your DD boat.

If you’re surfing: the acme 2315 is by far the best. However, make sure it will clear your trailer. I have an 08 LSV and out the 2315 on last season. It’s the perfect prop, full ballast and can still hit WOT. Of course empty my top end is only 36-38. The hole shot is incredible, surfing rpms are way down.

For wake boarding and surfing the trick is to start with the diameter. You want the largest diameter prop you can get. Hull clearance and trailer clearance. From there, you can have a local prop shop adjust the pitch and cup to customize the performance to your preference.

WakeMAKERS is not the best source for recommendations on props. Nettles knows what they are talking about. However, they were surprised a 15” prop would fit on our boats. I actually could have went with a 16” prop and modified the trailer, but didn’t want to go to the trouble. Turns out the 2315 was perfect. I could add some cup to get better top end, but I’m on a small lake and just don’t need it.

If you’re concerned with trailer clearance, the acme 1847 is excellent! That’s what I had before the 2315. Don’t even bother with the 1617. I tried it and it was awful! Couldn’t even get on plane with full ballast.

Either the 2315 if you have the trailer clearance, or the 1847. Some folks have had great success with the acme 1433. It is identical to the 1847 with less cup. If trailer clearance is an issue you could start with the 1433, if you need more top end have a prop shop add some cup and basically turn it into the acme 1847.

****In addition; If you already have a 14”* diameter prop, you could just have a prop shop adjust the pitch and cup on your existing prop and save the money!! They can adjust pitch + or - up to 2” and add or remove as much cup as you need. You should be able to get everything you you’re looking for out of your existing prop. All the conversations you read on here about buying and swapping props is acme/oj marketing. Find a local prop shop to work with and they can tune your existing prop to perform as good or better than a new one for 1/4 of the price.

    Hope that helps!

This thread is a year old. Also, the prop mentioned above is not for a DD boat.
