Default Question for all the box anchor users.

I got a box anchor for Christmas, what rope are you guys running with your box anchors? I know the website says you do not need a chain. I tried to search, but did not find any specific threads. Thanks everyone.

Depends on my usage. If I'm mooring up near the shore, then yes I use the anchor buddy. Beyond that for just anchoring when I don't need to pull into the shore I use a "retired" rock climbing rope. I think it's 10mm rope.

I plan on using my 3/8" 100 foot anchor rope already in the boat. I have an anchor buddy but don't use it much.

We use 1/2" anchor rope (no anchor buddy). At the time, 1/2" rope was actually cheaper than the 3/8" rope that we normally buy.

Anchor Buddy is the best. The limitation is depth, but 20 foot or less you cant beat the anchor buddy.

Other limitations are wind, waves and proximity to other boats anchored close by. Advantage is less stress to the anchor point on the boat and you can pull the boat in to shallow water to load and unload. I built mine before the Anchor Buddy was born and still using the same thing 25 years later.
