Default 2006 Outback V vs 2006 Mobius LSV

I am looking at both the Outback V and the Mobius LSV. Can someone give me some insight on the differences between the two? I live in Utah and I have two small kids (6 and 2). We would be using the boat for mainly wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing for the kids and someday would like to do some surfing. I am looking for a good boat but I don't want to break the bank.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gary

The Outback V is basically last year's Mobius LSV when you talk about hull design. Its a foot shorter at 20'6" than this years MobLSV at 21'6". The Outback V does not come preequipped with the Rad-A-Cage (wake tower). I researched both and found that after adding all options (including a tower) that I wanted to the Outback, I could get the MobLSV for less. However, I got a bunch of boat show incentives on my MobLSV as it was already ordered by my dealer when I committed to purchasing and they were gonna have to order the Outback V without incentives. Still I think you'll find you get more boat for around the same price with the MobLSV unless you want to slack off on the options and go with the Outback to save a little.

    I think TN covered most

    The New LSV is:
    10" longer (20.8 vs 21.6)
    2" wider
2" higer freeboard (feels more like you are 'in' the boat vs 'on' the boat)
slightly modified deeper v (cuts chop better)
heavier (good for ballast, bad for top end speed)

The price difference is about $2500 apples to apples.

I'd say you can get away with the 310 carb on the Outback V (though you will wish you hadn't), but the new LSV really does need the extra of the 325.

Outback V is a great starter boat - $32,500 list for a V-Drive 20' tow boat w/ tower & ballast ??? I mean COME ON! If you decide to skip the tower you can save another $2k.

LSV is a little nicer and little larger, but it does not sound like you need that, so spend the extra $ on something else (or upgrade the engine) and enjoy.

    Hope this helps,

    Joe

    p.s. Welcome to the fun.
