no different than a car dealer that soaks you for the "suggested" maintenance in your manual. some charge up to $500 for a 30k service that really only amounts to checking the stuff that quick lubes check for your $30 oil change.

should ask for the quote before any work is performed and as the old saying goes.... "buyer beware".....

I was told "fluid changes and check for loose bolts and stuff". That's a weak explanation for a $450 service.
Sorry, looks like I didn't post the link:

See if that pg 64 doesn't provide a more comprehensive list. Your dealer really should provide a more detailed explanation of what you're paying for.

Yeah - we are in a supra dealer deadzone over here....so we need to do everything ourselves.

I think we have all been bent over at some point in our boating lives and the ones that do it themselves have refused to let it happen again. For the rest ...... I guess they could survive jail..........oops , there is my inside voice again......merry christmas

For the boaters without the right tools and know how it's worth it. Most shops without a high margin pro shop is how they make their money. I have a buddy that just had to hire a master mechanic and damn I was surprised with the salary. Plus side is all the work should be guaranteed and have some backing behind it. I've heard some nightmare DIY stories where worst case has happened.
