    Hi,
These things are not that difficult to maintain.
On my street we have six inboards and only one us hires a mechanic for routine maintenance.
The fluid changes are easy (oil, trans, and v-drive).
The winterization takes some know-how but I am sure there is a step-by-step on this forum.
Here is how long it takes me:
I usually change the fluids after a morning run when its already hot.
This takes about 2 hours if you don't have a helper. (Supplies about $50)
The no-freeze takes me about 90 minutes but this would also go much faster if I had a helper but somehow all my summer friends are no where to be found on a cold November day when I am doing this (Supplies about $50)
Total: About 4 hours of labor + $100 supplies

I could be wrong but check the breakdown ... I'd bet the bulk of the cost is in the 20 hr service as several of us have seen ridiculous pricing for this. It must be some proprietary stuff as I haven't had anyone that can tell me what the 20 hr service entails.

I'm pretty sure it's just changing oil, tranny and vdrive fluids. Maybe a quit Alignment check. Generally priced around 300-400. So with his winterization the price seems normal.

see pg 64 for a start

some dealers will go over the boat & trailer to check fit & finish, etc. and some also water test if there are any reported issues

They make sure the boat is on the trailer correctly?

I was told "fluid changes and check for loose bolts and stuff". That's a weak explanation for a $450 service.

The dealer realm in this industry leaves alot to be desired BUT paying the dealer let's you point the finger when something goes wrong. Speaking of, I need to follow up with mine AGAIN to get the fix for my oil being stored in the bilge.

But to op, the pricing isn't far off from what other new owners are seeing.
