    Default Saltwater Flush Routine

    Hi,

I am new to inboards (30+ years of outboards in the salt). When I see other boaters flushing their inboards with fresh water after using in salt water, they give two big blips of the throttle at the end to 'clear the standing water'.

Are these blips required/recommended or bad practice ?

    Thanks

    mpb.

I am 35 miles from the coast and have never put my inboard in salt water. Not worth the headache/damage over time. As for your question, if the engine has been flushed thoroughly with fresh water then the "standing water" should all be fresh water. It shouldn't make any difference if it remains in there unless you are preparing to winterize.
My Mom said I'm not allowed to get wet!
