    Default Ballast Purchase Advice

I need some advice on my next ballast purchase. I have a 2005 XLV with the 310hp Assault. I bought it a few years ago with 130hrs. It currently has about 250 hrs. When I got it it didn't have a tower or ballast. Since then I have put the stock tower and and have bought the ballast system kits for the back lockers with 1100lb bags. I have a spare 750 I put in the play pen. Over the summer I had a buddy bring a 750 bag and had that on the bench of which ever side of the boat was being surfed. He has a 2015 Tige Z3 and he said the wave we got was almost comparable to his. I want to get a bag and ballast system for the center locker. So I should get the 1180lb bag for the Gravity system or go lighter? When we run it with 750lb in the play pen the nose still comes up pretty high. Has anyone used an XLV fully loaded (3380lb)? If I get a suckgate will I need to fully load it? Looking for some advice.

Search posts from jmvotto. He has his XLV dialed in.

I put a 1433 prop on it this year. Definitely more torque on the low end. Will PM.

I run 1100s in the rear, 1180 up front (all full) and a suck gate with the trim all the way up. Surfing the XLV takes some weight. Go with the 1180. Venting the bags is nice as well.

This will be my setup as well. Just bought the 1180 bag. Will need to wait until next year to test but I can start the season with it. And I will get the reversible pump system over the winter. Need to build a suck gate as well.

I went with 900s as not to pop the rear hatches and 120 of lead under each bag
