2014 Outback V WakeSurf setup??

Hi guys,

I am new to the Moomba forum and I'm excited to now be apart of it.

I am also a relatively new boat owner, so bear with me. I own a 2014 Moomba Outback V and I'm trying to figure out the right setup to wakesurf. We have bags in the center and then in the back right and left. What I usually do is fill the back left to 100% and the center to about 50%, then put the wake plate down about 80%. I usually fluctuate around 10-11 mph, however I haven't been able to find the sweet spot of the perfect wake. Any pointers or tips on the setup would be appreciated.

What kind of weight is each bag? My first thought is that you should fill the center bag 100%.

I do 900 in each locker, 400 in the center and 650 in bow (IBS). Build one of the DIY ghetto gates and no listing is necessary. Gives you a pretty surf-able wave.

I fill my 750 rear 400 center a 1000 triangle in bow about 3/4 full and if no crew I fill the two stock 400's on whatever side were surfing one across the back seat and one across the side as far back as you can get it

My wife and I surf with 750 on the surfside and 400 in the front. 10 MPH and the wake plate gauge fully to the left (I can never remember if that is up or down).

Calibrate your speedo with a gps.

Are you running the stock ballasts? The advice I got here when I joined was to upgrade the rears to 750's or 900's from the factory 400's. Right now I am just using the factory ballast and I fill surf side all the way up, center to 100% and run the wake plate about half. When my fat sister comes out I have her sit surf side also! This works ok. I plan on upgrading the rears this year and have built a ghetto gate to add on. Hope to try it in the next two weeks.

definitely go with at least the 750's - I have never tried 900's....If they fit that would be my choice. The 1100's were to big for the compartments on an OBV.

You can use the stock 400's in the rear, but you really need to be an experienced surfer. I have actually surfed behind my OBV without any ballast at all.

this is just my opinion - but I don't think the ghetto gates are real good for the boat. I have a suspicion it just puts to much lateral stress on the swim platform and could result in stress cracks where the platform brackets attach to the hull.

I like the "Suck Gates" that attach to the side of the hull.

Agreed.....1100s too big, but I've had both the 750s and 900s and they both fit just fine.
