v-drive gland packing nut
Anyone have tips on adjusting the gland packing nut on a V-drive? It looks like it might be hard to get at.

I thought the same thing when I looked into the V-drive. The nut was not all that tight and I found that once I got into it, there was not a whole lot to it. When I got to the lake, it leaked like you wouldn't believe. I just ran up to the shop, grabbed a pair of channel locks and adjusted it right then and there. Try it oin your trailer for the first try and then you will realize how easy it is.

Has any one ever replaced the packing? My 99 Mobius has been tightened as far as it can and is still leaking more than I want. I am wondering what kind of packing and if you have to remove the old stuff or just back it off, wrap the shaft and tighten her up ...
