Default Prop stike on an old mattress

Ok, I've hit a few things....but this the first time I hit a mattress(?)....
When making a slow turn in the water I felt the hard vibration of a prop strike.
I never saw anything come to the surface after the strike.
In idle speed the boat ran ok, but anything more than that was causing vibrations.
It was too cold to put the googles on and go for a swim so we limped home.
When I pulled it out of the water I had thick metal wire wrapped around the prop with polyester stuffing and plastic parts attached.
I was delighted to see no damage to the prop, shaft, or the hull.

    Jason,
Where were you when you hit the mattress? Never heard of this one before. Glad there was no damage to your boat.

The location was on the Upper James River in Richmond, VA.
We get some debris but it's usually sticks and smaller logs.
The average depth is about 9 feet.
