PM Inbox size
This forum has the tightest Inbox restrictions I've ever experienced. Seems like it's overly restrictive for no valid reason.
In a conversation with someone and it gets denied.
I understand you probably want most conversations viewable for all to gain knowledge from but this is crazy.

the larger the inbox size, the more space the forum eats up would be my guess and the more space it eats up, the more it costs to manage/run/maintain.
I have been up against pm size before, but you delete them and life is good.
more interesting, 29,355 members and only 672 active members. 2% of the population post regularly.'06 Supra Launch 20SSV-gone but never forgotten

My guess is that it was the default setting in the forum software and was never changed.
Most PM's are probably much less than 1kB (about a 1/2 page of text). So: 1kB x 672 users x 1000 messages each = 672MB, let's just call it 1GB for ease. Let's guess $0.05 per GB per month. So that 1GB of storage costs on the order of $0.60 per year. (Not to mention lots of free storage for the first 5-10GB)
The other default setting that nearly every forum software keeps but drives me nuts is the requirement to be a registered user in order to view an attached picture.Last edited by gregski; 09-03-2015 at 01:51 PM.

The amount of threads on this board would way out weigh any potential cost of the pm Inbox.
Either way. We're talking cents here.
Another bothersome thing is we should also allow more attachments or disallow uploading of attachments. Because most old threads don't have attachments that even work because people need to save space so they are deleted.
Just force external attachments from imgur.com or any other hosting service that's free.Last edited by spyder; 09-03-2015 at 02:51 PM.

Your PM box stores your sent items as well as your messages. Need to delete both to clear the most space.
