auto open sundeck hatch's
trying to figure out why or how this happens, when towing the boat and hitting speeds of about 45-50 both my sundeck hatch's pop open. luckily I don't have to tow far to our lake and if we do go long distance I put the cover on it, but out lake is now closed due to flooding and am going to have to travel about a hour and a half to find decent water and for this short a tow I don't want to have to deal with covering and uncovering in the florida heat and sun. any ideas why the hatchs are popping open, or how to get it to stop doing this-never had this happen with my 08 lsv.

I think it might be the gas struts, as they heat up the internal pressure rises, when you hit a bump that pressure causes them to open slightly, then wind catches it. I would try unhooking them on your next travel and see if that helps.
I know on my 13 the struts are in a different position them on my 08.Malo <--- Means--Evil or Mean One. This explains a lot.

I had the same problem, so I replaced my gas struts with ones that are a little weaker and that solved the problem.

^^ Well that's good to hear that im not the only one, first time was right after getting gas and I thought maybe somebody was looking inside them, but then I saw it happen the second time and figured it was speed related. that time I just ran a dock line from cleat to cleat to hold them down

A friend's center hatch opened on the freeway. He had to turn around and find it because the force ripped it right off.

tie a dock line or flat racket strap across the rear cleats, wrap in old towels to keep from rubbing

Don't the newer boats have a locking latch? My 07 has a latch that locks.
