Yes, there is a solenoid buried in the hitch that deactivates the master cylinder when backing. If your truck already has the 7 pin round go to your boat dealer or a reputable trailer supply house and you can buy the adaptor from 7 round to 5 flat. The power to the trailer is applied when you put the trucks reverse lights on. Happy Boating,
