Thru hull scoop
Any words of advise before I install a Thru hull scoop for my ballast system? Do I need any type of gasket, or will a marine silicone suffice, if used liberally?

Silicone is not a good sealant to use below the water line on a boat. A better sealant would be a bedding compound; the best I've found is 3M 5200. It takes a little longer to dry, but provides a much better water barrier for the fiberglass. Hope this helps. GL
