Upgrading Kenwood KMR-550U to KMR-D562BT?
Does anyone know if the wiring harness is the same, and if the driver side controls are compatible?

it does not list steering wheel control, so I would assume it will not work with your driver side controls.

according to crutchfield.ca
Remote Control: The Kenwood KMR-D562BT offers remote compatibility through its wired remote input.
Optional Marine Wired Remote: The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR wired marine remote control (113RC35MR, sold separately) is designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. The Kenwood add-on wired remote features source selector, music search, and volume control buttons.
Optional Steering Wheel Control: The head unit's wired remote input wire (blue/yellow) also lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

Exact wire hardness. Beauty. Plug and play upgrade.
To note. The lead for the antenna form the head unit is built in now. Had to snip a zip tie to make the antenna cord reach.

I'm thinking about getting a KMR-D562BT as well. Do you have the Aeware TSC-55 wired driver side remote? If so, did it work with the new head unit?

Hi Spyder,
I too just bought the 562BT and put it in my 2006 Outback. Loved that it was plug n play, kind of.... My driver side and swim deck remotes don't work. You said modifications were needed on the harness when you went to the 550U. In doing that did you bring the connection for the remote into the main plug? Was it the blue wire with white stripe in the Moomba harness? That is the only thing that wasn't part of the main harness plug in. I didn't do anything to the moomba harness and I think it is all original. I hate to cut the original plug and start soldering stuff together but will do if I have to, just want to make sure I do the right thing.
Thanks
