Well - if you are using 14 with no issue, then I'm going to use the 14 I already have in the garage.

    I'm a cheap basta.

Did you follow Exile's instructions on tuning the 30.2 or did you have to tweak it at all (not sure if you saw my other post).

I haven't tuned it yet, I've been gone too much for work. Going to give them a call this week when I have time to get it out of the garage.

14ga would be fine if you ran a 2 conductor for each pod, but a little light if a pair of pods is parallel up in the tower. But, 4 2-conductors would be thicker than a single 12/4 that could supply all 4 pods.

13 Mobius - did you run 4 wires up or two?

Boy, we sure do get some contradicting info on here don't we.

Manufacturer says one thing, so called "experts" say another

Oy vey. I think I'll just put a damn crystal radio in my glove box.

I missed the so-called expert's post, but giving the benefit of the doubt to the manf. on their amp specs, 420w rms (got that from the manuals ive never read ) is too small for my liking for what could be a 20-25 foot length of cable. Now, 14ga to each of the 4 pods is 210W rms, thats more like it.

14 ga is just fine for this application. If you want to goto the extra effort and run 12ga, thats fine too. This is not a question of will one work or one not. They both will work. The longer the run the more need for a heavier gauge.

I encourage most to pull new wire if they are technically inclined because i've seen a lot of issues from new boats having, poorly spliced or shorted or frayed wires in the tower zone. And I'm talking all brands...

When it comes down to your personal choice: decide how much work you want to do and plan accordingly. None of these choices break the bank.

Thanks Brian. Good to hear a definitive answer - and one I like
