OK Audio Pro's - Wire Install Question For Ya
I am going to be running new 12 Gauge wire from amp to tower speakers.
The original dealer install has a 4 pin Deutch connector with male pins coming from the tower and the mating receptacle mounted to the hull with female pins.
The pins are no bigger than about .032" in diameter.
There is enough slack in wiring at this joint to allow tower to be folded forward.
Why is it best to run 12 ga wire if signal is going to be restricted by the size of these connector pins?
Wouldn't this cause resistance?
Should I use another type connector?

The dia of the terminal pin may be .032" but factor the surface area of the entire male and female terminals when mates. Also, the gauge of the wires is determined using the entire length of the run.

"surface area".
Ok - that makes complete sense. Thank you!
