Career? or not?
I am planning on working as a freelance tech support provider. Do you think there is a market for this? Not all companies have an internal tech support team, do they?

I work as a mechanical designer in the research and development dept. of a multinational corporation headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, (operating mainly in robotics and the power and automation technology areas) - they do not have an internal support team in any of their facilities.
They contract IBM to handle all software issues... remotely from India.
IBM contracts a person to handle hardware issues and they are officed in the facility (but you have to go thru India to get the guy sitting 50 feet away from you to do anything - even if you just need a new damn mouse)Last edited by slipperyrockTKE300; 01-24-2015 at 08:55 AM.

Career? or not?
My father owns a small consulting firm that does just that. He sets up and maintains networks for small businesses. He stays so busy that he hardly has time to sleep. I'm sure if you had any questions he you be glad to answer them.
