Default Thump Noise Under V-Drive Cover When Shifting Into Gear.

I have had a thump since day one when shifting into gear. I looked quite a bit early on to try to see what was making the noise, but could never find anything. I kept checking all the fluids for metal shavings, but never found any. I planned on taking it into the dealer to see if they could fix the noise. Well I found out today what was making the noise during my oil change. The v-drive cover was actually sitting on the end of the v-drive. You can see where the paint is rubbed off the bolt.

This is where it has cut into the underside of the fiberglass cover.

Luckily the fiberglass is pretty thick there, so I plan on grinding it out to clear the v-drive better. I figured I would post this incase anyone else has experienced the same noise.

Good catch. Would have taken me forever to discover that one. I'd be checking the coupler bolts first.

Nice when it's the simple things. BTW - that is one immaculately clean bilge...
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Gee, I haven't cleaned and waxed my bilge area in a long time.
