Default Replacing tower with one that folds back

About had enough of the tower folding forward pain. I am getting a freestanding carport and will have to fold the tower down to park the boat under it. The one on there is well made and I like the looks , but I am willing to remove it altogether and buy another one that folds to the rear and install it. Anyone have suggestions on which tower to buy? Or a way to modify the existing tower and fold it back.

    Feel your pain...

One on eBay right now for $2k that would/should fit your boat.

I have a freestanding carport and actually raised the legs about 18" but still have to fold the tower forward because I come in to it at an angle. Even then I couldn't raise the tower back up unless I gained another couple feet of clearance.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I am right there with you on this one. I have an 07 OBV and I hate dropping the tower down to the front. I looked at and reeally like the style of the NEW ROSWELL AVIATOR TOWER, but after looking at all the added cost to buy and install a new tower, I would be broke!. New bimini top, new tower speakers, fiberglass work from the old tower.

Jim, I did this one time but it did not work for me, but it might for you. simple to try. Take out the allen bolts from the front legs and fold the tower backwards. if will be up in the air a ways, but you will want it to stay level so the front legs are not any higher than the rest of the tower, having a helper will help. If it works for you, then swap the allen bolts and the quick bolt, also need a support for the tower (2x4 works)

That's a lot of hassle to change the tower. I would just extend the legs of the carport. I've seen guys simply use a similar material and bolt on some extra length and anchor properly. I'm assuming you would want to anchor anyways. You could also make some cross members between the legs for support if needbe. Or bolt down the bottoms of the legs into some metal channel material. Way easier I think and you wouldn't have to fold tower every trip home.

Thanks for the replies, can't extend legs of carport want to keep ht. of it low . Thought about modifying tower to fold to the rear , haven't ruled it out yet just need some direction. My last boat I installed a titan tower , loved the way it folded back to the rear , one man operation. Then backed the boat into the garage . Oh well I have all winter ....

I just bought a aftermarket for mine at the beginning of summer. I love it.
