    Question Flashing Check Engine Light

does anyone have a list if the possible things that trip a flashing check engine light? ('11 LSV)
manual just says "take to dealer"

on my dads outboard his manual listed the possible items that would trip both a solid, and blinking check engine light.

happened the last time we were out. temps, oil pressure and volts were good.
so we drained and loaded up. light never came on again. not sure how long it was on. being hidden behind the wheel its not something you can see without checking.

anyone know the items that trip the check engine light?

    Oil pressure
    Emissions if you have cat
    Engine knocking
    Fuel Injection
    ECM

Are the only things I have heard of.

Flashing is bad. I would suspect knocking because that can seriously damage an engine. Normally due to bad fuel. If it went away after you drained ballast I would fill with supreme and go out again.

I get CEL in the beginning and end of my season due to emissions on Cats. I have to run supreme once our water temp drops below 60. I think the engine just runs too rich due to starting and shutting off a lot

i have no cats. bought the '11 specifically for that reason. last year i could get no cats.

earlier in the day yes, the boat felt very sluggish. but we drained the bilge and it seemed to go away instatly. (boat was sitting and resting of course during the drain)

    idles smooth.

should i try a fuel octane booster or fuel cleaner?

what about changing the oil? the oil pressure was maybe a hair high. as in 50 or so. most cars run about 40.

Yes on fuel treatment, fuel filter if it hasn't been changed in the last 100 hours.
Also I wouldn't worry about the oil pressure at 50, mine is 50-60 pretty often.

    Default Flashing Check Engine Light

The oil in your boat should be considerably thicker than what is run in a car. I would suspect fuel as well

im not sure if the fuel filter was changed at the 100 hour service or not.

I thought 2011 was when they started using fuel filters that were in the tank, and not accessible? Supposed to be lifetime filter if I'm not mistaken.
